Frozen pipes are bad for more than just plumbing. Last winter we had a pipe freeze and burst when we started thawing it out. We had to have plumbing repair done as well as clean up the mess. Luckily it wasn’t a sewage pipe. Opening cabinets near plumbing is definitely a good idea. The isolation of the pipes is often the problem. Especially if they are near an outside wall.
